Grades 1-5
The Lower School at Immaculate Conception comprises the core elementary grades, 1st-5th. During this time students experience a transition, year-by-year, from cementing the foundational knowledge and skills gained during their early education to utilizing them for higher order thinking.
The focus in our Lower School Language Arts and Mathematics program is awareness, fluency, and comprehension. As all academic ability stems from the mastery of Language Arts and Mathematics, the students in our Lower School are given ample opportunities to engage in these two core subjects to further strengthen their skills in Social Studies and Science. Furthermore, students learn the importance of their faith in their Religion classes, as they not only learn prayers and Bible stories, but also how to use them to enable their own moral and character development.
The Lower School classes follow the California Common Core and NGSS standards.
